Description
Burgess Excel Luscious Leaves – Natural Leaf Forage
Burgess Excel Luscious Leaves bring together four familiar leafy plants in one colourful forage mixture. Every 60g bag contains equal amounts of dried dandelion, red clover, nettle and ribwort. Consequently, rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas can explore a varied combination of natural tastes, aromas and textures.
Burgess makes this complementary feed with 100% natural ingredients. In addition, its 16% crude fibre content makes it a high-fibre treat for small pet herbivores.
Four Different Leaves in Equal Proportions
Dandelion, red clover, nettle and ribwort each form exactly 25% of the composition. Therefore, no single plant dominates the mixture.
Each ingredient adds something different:
- Dandelion provides broad, fragrant leaf pieces
- Red clover adds a naturally different taste and texture
- Nettle contributes further leafy variety
- Ribwort completes the four-plant blend
Because Burgess uses natural plant ingredients, their precise colour, shape and size may vary between bags. However, these small seasonal variations are completely normal.
What Is in Burgess Excel Luscious Leaves?
The simple composition contains only four dried plants. Unlike a baked biscuit or compressed treat, this product provides a loose leafy mixture that you can sprinkle through hay or use in foraging activities.
The analytical constituents include 16% crude fibre and 16.3% crude protein. Meanwhile, the mixture contains 2.4% crude fat and 12.1% crude ash.
Although this forage contains naturally fibrous ingredients, it remains a complementary feed. Therefore, offer it in moderation alongside your pet’s normal balanced diet.
Encourage Natural Foraging Behaviour
Sprinkle a small amount of the leafy mixture through fresh feeding hay. Your pet must then search among the hay strands to find the different leaves. As a result, the forage can make hay time more interesting and encourage natural exploration.
Alternatively, hide a little inside a cardboard tube or suitable foraging toy. You could also scatter several pieces around a clean enclosure to create a simple searching activity.
Rotating these presentation methods can help maintain your pet’s interest. However, always supervise pets when introducing a new treat or activity.
How to Feed Luscious Leaves
Burgess recommends sprinkling a handful through feeding hay and feeding the mixture in moderation. Adjust the amount to suit your pet’s size and reduce other treats accordingly.
Introduce the leaves gradually if your rabbit, guinea pig or chinchilla has not tried them before. In addition, remove any uneaten pieces if they become wet or contaminated.
Although the mixture works well as a hay topper, it should never replace long-stem feeding hay. Hay encourages extended grazing and chewing. Therefore, it should continue to form the main part of your pet’s daily diet.
Always provide unlimited suitable feeding hay and clean drinking water. You could sprinkle the leaves through our Timothy Hay or another feeding hay your pet already enjoys.
Finally, reseal the bag after use and store it in a cool, dry place.
