Our Orchard Hay is a softer, tasty alternative to Timothy Hay, ideal for rabbits and guinea pigs that prefer a gentler texture. Also known as cocksfoot hay, it has a soft-to-medium feel, plenty of leaf and some natural stalks to encourage chewing. Although it is less coarse than Timothy Hay, it still provides plenty of natural fibre and encourages the chewing needed to support healthy teeth and digestion.

Traditionally Made in Devon

This Orchard Hay is traditionally made and sun-dried in Devon, allowing it to dry naturally in the field. The result is pale green feeding hay with a fresh, sweet aroma that small pets find hard to resist. As hay is a natural, seasonal crop, its colour, texture and stalk length may vary slightly from bale to bale. These natural variations are part of what makes every harvest unique.

A Tasty Timothy Hay Alternative

If your rabbit or guinea pig is fussy about coarser hay, our softer Orchard Hay could be an excellent alternative. Its leafy texture makes it inviting to eat, while the varied strands encourage natural grazing and plenty of chewing throughout the day. High-fibre hay should form the main part of a rabbit’s or guinea pig’s daily diet, helping to keep the digestive system moving normally while regular chewing supports healthy tooth wear.

Orchard Hay can be fed on its own or mixed with Timothy Hay or Meadow Hay to add variety and encourage reluctant hay eaters. Always provide unlimited fresh hay and clean drinking water. When introducing a different hay, offer it gradually alongside the hay your pet already knows.
