Drying removes much of the parsnip’s natural water and concentrates its flavour. As a result, you only need to offer a small amount at a time.
Encourage Searching and Foraging
Hide a small piece among clean feeding hay to encourage your pet to search for it. Alternatively, scatter pieces around the enclosure or place one inside a hay-filled cardboard tube.
These simple activities can make treat time more engaging. In addition, you can offer a piece by hand to encourage interaction and bonding.
Always supervise your pet and remove any uneaten food that becomes wet or soiled.
How to Feed Dried Parsnip
Offer one or two small pieces occasionally as part of a balanced diet. If parsnip is new to your pet, introduce it gradually and monitor how they respond.
Dried parsnip should not replace complete food or feeding hay. Rabbits and guinea pigs must always have access to unlimited fresh hay and clean drinking water.
