Description
Selective Naturals Country Loops – Timothy Hay and Carrot Treats
Selective Naturals Country Loops are baked treats made with 18% ground Timothy hay and 4% dried carrot. Their loop shape and firm texture make them easy to offer by hand or use for simple foraging activities.
Each 80g pack contains high-fibre treats with no added sugar or artificial colours. Rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and degus can enjoy them as an occasional addition to their normal balanced diet.
Baked With Timothy Hay and Carrot
Timothy hay forms 18% of the recipe. In addition, dried carrot accounts for 4%, giving the loops a familiar vegetable flavour.
The recipe also contains ground dried locust beans, ground peas and linseeds. Meanwhile, wheat flour helps create the firm baked texture, and soya oil completes the mixture.
Because carrot and other plant ingredients contain naturally occurring sugars, “no added sugar” does not mean sugar-free. Therefore, always follow the feeding guide and consider any other treats offered that day.
What Is in Selective Naturals Country Loops?
These baked loops contain a relatively short list of plant-based ingredients. Ground Timothy hay provides long fibre, while carrot adds natural flavour and colour.
Linseeds provide a natural source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These essential fats contribute to a balanced diet and help support healthy skin and coat condition.
Furthermore, the recipe contains no artificial colours. The natural ingredients create the colour and appearance of the finished loops instead.
High-Fibre Treats for Small Herbivores
The analytical information gives a maximum crude fibre figure of 14%. As a result, these loops provide a high-fibre alternative to many conventional small-pet treats.
However, baked treats cannot provide the same prolonged chewing experience as fresh, long-stem hay. Feeding hay should still form the main part of a rabbit’s or guinea pig’s daily diet.
Always provide unlimited fresh feeding hay and clean drinking water. You could serve the loops alongside our Devon Timothy Hay or another suitable hay your pet already enjoys.
Ideal for Hand Feeding and Foraging
The loop shape makes these treats easy to hold, so they work particularly well for hand feeding. Consequently, you can use them as an occasional reward while interacting with your pet.
Alternatively, hide a loop among clean hay or place it inside a suitable foraging toy. This encourages your rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla or degu to search and explore before finding the treat.
Always supervise pets when introducing a new treat or activity. In addition, remove any uneaten pieces if they become wet or contaminated.
How Many Country Loops Should I Feed?
The manufacturer recommends feeding two to four treats per day, depending on your pet’s size.
Introduce the loops gradually if your pet has not eaten them before. Moreover, adjust the serving if you offer any other treats that day.
Country Loops provide a complementary treat, so they should not replace regular nuggets, fresh greens or long-stem feeding hay.
Before and after opening, store the pack in a cool, dry place. Finally, reseal it after each use to help keep the treats fresh.
