Description
Science Selective Junior Rabbit Food – 1.5kg
Science Selective Junior Rabbit Food is a balanced daily food for growing rabbits aged up to approximately 20 weeks. The 1.5kg bag contains single-component extruded nuggets with 17% crude protein, 19% crude fibre, essential amino acids, spinach, prebiotics, linseed, vitamins and minerals.
The recipe is designed to support healthy growth and development and is also suitable for pregnant and lactating does. Every nugget contains the same ingredients, helping prevent selective feeding and provide a consistent nutritional balance in every portion.
Extra Protein for Growing Rabbits
Young rabbits have different nutritional requirements from fully grown adults. Science Selective Junior Rabbit Food contains an elevated protein level of 17% to support healthy muscle growth, together with essential amino acids for development.
The carefully balanced calcium-to-phosphorus ratio provides 0.8% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus to support strong bone development. Spinach supplies natural nutrients and antioxidants, while the recipe contains no added sugar.
High Fibre and Single-Component Nuggets
The nuggets contain 19% crude fibre to support normal digestive function. Their single-component format means every piece contains the same recipe, helping prevent rabbits from choosing favourite ingredients and leaving the rest behind.
Prebiotics called MOS support digestive wellbeing, while linseed provides a natural source of Omega 3 and 6 to help support healthy skin and a glossy coat.
Pellets Do Not Replace Feeding Hay
Complete nuggets form only one part of a rabbit’s daily diet. The Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund feeding guide explains why unlimited good-quality hay or grass should form the foundation of a rabbit’s diet.
Always provide unlimited fresh feeding hay and clean drinking water. For a soft, fragrant option, pair these nuggets with our Devon Orchard Hay. Suitable fresh vegetables should also be offered as part of a balanced diet.
Feeding Young Rabbits
The manufacturer’s guide recommends allowing approximately 40–50g per kilogram of body weight per rabbit each day while monitoring weight and wellbeing. Individual requirements vary, particularly for pregnant or lactating does, so seek veterinary advice when necessary.
When changing foods, introduce the new nuggets gradually over 10–14 days. Begin by mixing a small amount with your rabbit’s current food, then slowly increase the new food while reducing the old food. Store the bag in a cool, dry place.
For complete nutritional and feeding information, visit the manufacturer’s Science Selective Junior product page.
Moving to an Adult or Mature Food
Once your rabbit reaches the appropriate adult life stage, change foods gradually. For rabbits aged four years and over, see our Science Selective 4+ Rabbit Food, which contains 22% fibre with reduced protein and a lower energy content.
